OUTLOOK
Walsh enters its first season as a varsity sport after playing the past three seasons at the club level. The Cavaliers will join the Eastern College Athletic Conference in Division II men’s lacrosse with seven other schools. The last three seasons, Walsh played in the Men’s Lacrosse Collegiate Association as a member of the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association.
First year head coach Jason Fautas announced that four members
of the 2013 Cavaliers will serve as co-captains for the upcoming
season. The captains include seniors Tyler Murphy (Canton,
OH/Jackson), Cody Stoll (Jackson Twp., OH/Jackson), PJ Scheetz
(North Canton, OH/Jackson) and junior Josh Jacobs (Columbus,
OH/Hilliard Darby).
“These young men are great leaders on and off the
field.” Fautas said. “We as a staff know that these
young men will help us build the foundation of our
program.”
The Cavaliers open up on the road Saturday, March 9, against
Roberts Wesleyan College at 2 p.m. They will then play in their
first ECAC contest on Saturday, March 16 at Seton Hill University
at 1 p.m. Walsh’s first home game will be a non-conference
meeting with Wilmington College on Wednesday, March 27, at 7 p.m.
The Cavaliers will play their first conference home game against
Lindenwood University on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m.
